Born with a disability and shaped by seasons of struggle, doubt, and personal failure, Dr. Benjamin Bowman understands both the seen and unseen limitations that can define a life. Some limitations are visible. Others are hidden—shame from the past, fear of inadequacy, wounds that linger long after the moment has passed. Many of us assume that God will use us after those limitations are removed.

My name is Benjamin Bowman (Ben), and I’m from Wilmore, KY. I was born and raised in southern Indiana, where my family still lives today. I was raised in and nurtured by a Christian family, and attended the local United Methodist church in our small farming community. I was also born legally blind.
In 1999, I moved to Wilmore to attend Asbury (College) University, where I:
Earned a Bachelor of Science in Education
Majored in History Education
Graduated with honors in 2003
From 2006 to 2010, I followed God’s leading into vocational ministry and attended Asbury Theological Seminary, where I:
Earned a Master of Divinity
Graduated with high honors
Although I chose not to pursue ordination—because God had a different plan for my life—I was led to the mission field in Central Europe, where I served with TeachBeyond, an educational mission sending agency.
Over the past 20 years, I’ve worked in both domestic and international education.
2003–2010: Ran a private tutoring and advocacy service in Kentucky
2010–2018:
Taught high school history
Served as Secondary School Coordinator with TeachBeyond overseas
In 2018, I returned to Wilmore to pursue a doctorate in Organizational Leadership at Grand Canyon University, focusing on how spiritually mature international educators use transformational leadership to support student spiritual development.

Traveled across Europe to train educators and provide pastoral care

Our individualized coaching is tailored to the needs of each client 2 enhance their abilities as leaders in their industry. Individualized coaching sessions can be set up as weekly, biweekly, or monthly online sessions. During the first session and throughout the period of coaching, the needs of the individual leader and the organization will be assessed to provide unique and tailored coaching. The unique abilities and needs of the client to drive the focus of the coaching makes Outside the Box Consulting the best option 4 individuals seeking to become transformational leaders.
Some of the topics that are addressed in individualized coaching sessions include establishing a vision and mission, healthy work boundaries, elements of transformational leadership, and leader- follower dynamics. Each session lasts for one hour and can be scheduled around the time zones of our clients working in various places around the world.

Dr. Bowman is a passionate and creative thinker and educator! Reading his research and talking with him about it has inspired me with ideas for developing leadership within my school and partnering organizations. He encouraged and supported me in the development of a seminar on transformational leadership that I have shared at a conference for school leaders.
I got to know Benjamin while he was working at the Christian International School of Prague (CISP). Several times Ben was part of the organisation of the Dutch invasion: an exchange between students of CISP and the Guido de Brès in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Through these exchanges but also through Ben's lectures on several occasions, he enabled students to reflect on the meaning of Christianity for their lives.
His heart is to teach others about leadership. Dr. Bowman has helped launch an event called Catalyst in our denomination where hundreds attended. Many were overwhelmed by the power of his ability to lead and to share with us his personal witness and leadership skills. I highly recommend Dr. Bowman as he has the ability to empower others to be leaders.
